HomeMinder Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
HomeMinder ("the App", "we", "us") reminds you when recurring household upkeep is due — things like replacing an HVAC filter or changing smoke-detector batteries. The App is designed to work entirely on your device: without an account, none of your information leaves your iPhone or iPad. This policy explains the small amount of information we collect if you choose to create an account, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Without an account: nothing. Your upkeep items, their schedules, and your reminder history are stored only on your device. Reminders are local notifications scheduled by the App on the device itself — no push-notification service is involved and no data is transmitted to us.
With an optional account. If you create an account to back up and sync your items, we collect and store:
- Your email address and the date your account was created
- Your upkeep items: each item's name, icon, repeat cycle, and the date it was last done
That is the complete list. We do not collect your name, location, contacts, photos, health information, usage analytics, or advertising identifiers. We do not sell personal information to anyone, and we do not use your information for advertising.
How We Use Your Information
- To sign you in to your account
- To back up your upkeep items and sync them across your devices
- To maintain the security of accounts and diagnose technical problems
Who Can See Your Information
Only you. Your backed-up items are readable and writable solely by your own signed-in account; access rules on our database enforce this. HomeMinder has no social or sharing features, and no other user can see your data.
Service Providers
Account features are built on Google Firebase, which processes data on our behalf: Firebase Authentication (sign-in) and Cloud Firestore (backup storage). Google processes this data under its own privacy commitments, described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your backed-up information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from inside the App: open the account screen, tap Delete Account…, and confirm with your password. This is immediate and permanent — it removes your backed-up items, your account record, and your sign-in credentials. The items stored locally on your device are unaffected and the App keeps working without the account.
You may instead request deletion by contacting us at the email address below; we will delete your data within 30 days of a verified request. In either case we may retain information where we are legally required to.
Your Choices and Rights
- No account at all: every feature except backup and sync works without signing in
- Notifications: manage or disable reminders in iOS Settings
- Deletion: delete your account and all of its backed-up data from the account screen in the App
- Access and correction: contact us to request a copy of your data or correct inaccuracies
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional legal rights over your personal information, including the rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data and to object to certain processing. We honor such requests regardless of where you live. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act.
Security
Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in access-controlled Firebase services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.
Children's Privacy
HomeMinder is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App or by email before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when this policy was most recently revised.
